Wallpapers (Star Trek and Doom/Star Trek) and a plea for Reaper!Bones/ Kirk NaNoWriMo Help!
So I have an idea about what I want to do my NaNoWriMo on. Star Trek/Doom with Reaper!McCoy/Kirk in it. I want to basically gage interest in the idea and ask for idea for what should happen since the idea is pretty vague. Normally it wouldn't be a problem but it needs to be 50000 words and I don't think I've ever written a fic that long before.
So this is sort of a mirror'verse AU with Reaper!Bones. Basically, everyone knows that Starfleet is ran by a man named Reaper. But no one ever sees him so most people think he's a myth.. However, Reaper gets bored and decides to go out into the world by enrolling in Starfleet... as Leonard McCoy. Who should he meet but Kirk?
See the idea's still in the vague stage and I'd like some ideas about where to go with it.
And now for the wallpapers. There are Jim and George Kirk ones and Reaper!Bones/Kirk ones.

I love the premise. I like the idea of McCoy almost going undercover to find out what is actually going on. I think that he might even be searching for someone to take over being Reaper (like Dread Pirate Roberts) so that he can live a different life, but he comes to love Jim and his life as McCoy (it would be awesome if Jim became known as "Grimm" and Bones being known as "Reaper" and they eventually rule the Federation with their extra chromosomes of DOOM!).
I would love to help out in any way for this story (it sounds amazing). My advice, being based on very little knowledge of the story, might be entirely useless. If so, comment back and I will have something with more substance for you.

This right here would be completely and totally awesome.
Fic wise it's all very vague. I want Reaper joining Starfleet and meeting Jim about the same way as in the movie. I'm thinking I want this fic to happen during the Acadamy and not get into Nero and all that but that's still up in the air. And I want possessive!Bones. Any idea's you have, any at all would be a big help.

...I just realized that I didn't even have to check to remember that. I have seen that movie way too many times. ^^ I know it inside and out.

sdr, reporting for cheerleading, sir.
I don't know if I have anything specific in mind to add to what you have, but I would love to talk stuff out if you need it. ;) I support this 134%, so feel free to spam me if you want to. I'll PM you if I think of anything.

It would be kind of obvious, but if you wrote it from a point of view that is filtered through Jim's perspective of the world, the whole "McCoy is Reaper, who started Starfleet, and is a freakin' powerful mutant creature" would be a cool reveal.
I will write more suggestions later.

What if Reaper had sensed that something was going on at Starfleet that was being kept from him, he feels that there might be genetic manipulation like on Mars being experimented with at Starfleet. He goes to investigate that, taking on the identity of McCoy to do so. What if one of the scientist working on these experiments was Sam, Jim's brother? It could create a very compelling parellel to John Grimm and his sister.
Or (or and (don't know how this would work, but it could)...) Reaper had chosen George Kirk to be the man to take over for him so that he could go live another life. When George dies Reaper continues his work at Starfleet. Till George Kirk's son, Jim, catches his attention. He attends Starfleet as McCoy to get to know Jim, only to fall in love with him.
If you want to work with both ideas: Reaper had chosen George as his replacement, George dies, when Jim joins Starfleet (with the encouragement of Pike, one of Reaper's agents), Reaper becomes McCoy to see if Jim would make a good replacement, falls in love with him, and discovers chromosome 24 like genetic manipulation secretly being experimented by Starfleet (insert Jim's brother here).
Is any of that helpful?

What if the only way to destroy the evidence of C24 was to break into the labs? If Jim knew about it, he would insist on going too, and Reaper would either have to knock him out (cue angst and guilt for Reaper, anger for Jim) or let Jim go with him, in which he would worry about Jim's safety. OR, if Jim doesn't know at this point, Jim would wonder why Bones is being so secretive lately, cue angst and worrying. :DDD

Do you understand what I mean? Like in every lie there is some truth.

I was actually surprised at how McCoy-like Reaper was in the movie. Out of the whole group he was the one who performed as the medic when the one guy died (was it Goat?).

If you go into the movie, as wonderfully suggested, with Jim being superhuman, that could be AWESOME! There Jim is, getting into trouble for cheating, and he has Reaper, the REAPER, stand up for him.
He might be just a stowaway, but he is one of the most influential people in the Federation (son of a hero, lover of the leader of Starfleet). That somewhere in the plot of the movie, Captain Pike listens to a command from Doctor McCoy. DUN DUN DA!
Any way you go with this, it is important to depict Reaper/Bones well. He may be trying to avoid "leadership" while he is being McCoy, but when push comes to shove, he is the Reaper and will save the day. At first he should be overprotective of Jim the way he was with Sam in the movie Doom, and when romance gets thrown in there, he just becomes VERY possesive.
I like the idea of playing with the dynamics of their relationship. Bones treats Jim like a child, but they are romantically involved, and Reaper respects Jim, even if he belittle him, etc. Their friendship/romance is basically an oxymoron. Also, you should deal with the fact that they are BOTH alpha males and both want to be in charge. (If you go into the movie, or even just have an epilouge, the idea that Captain Kirk may be the leader of the Enterprise, but Reaper is his leader could be an interesting topic to address).

wanna use it?
I'm not publicly sharing it because it is full of notes on one I'm working on (not for nano) but if you think it will help, it's incredibly anal but is as far as i can tell accurate
