30 Days of Writing: Day 5 & 6

Day 5 and 6 of the writing meme! I mean to get 5 posted yesterday but a huge wind storm knocked out our power until about midnight. Even then it kept going in and out.

haze; Trudy/Ram; The Tribe

Trudy stares out of the window of room. It’s early enough that the fog is still a thick cloud across the city so she can’t see far. However, she can just make out the troop of Technos making their way to into the Hotel.

There’s a mumble from behind her and she turns. Ram is stretched out across the bed, his arm thrown over the empty spot where she used to be and there is a frown on his face, as if he realizes something is missing, even in his sleep.

She doesn’t know what they are doing. The technos aren’t the enemy anymore but they aren’t exactly friends either. Ever since Mega managed to stop the Zoot program from taking over the city everyone has been floundering, unsure what to do next. It seems like no one knows how to function without a problem to solve.

A sigh escapes her. Once the fog clears, she’s make her way back to the mall, back to her daughter, back to her tribe. But for now she’s just going to curl back up in Ram’s arms and pretend for a little while longer.

flame; Casey & RJ; PRJF (Beyond Wonderland'verse)

Casey watches the fire, completely ignoring the rest of the world. He’s got his arms wrapped around his legs, pulling them close to his chest and he rests his chin on his knees.

From his left he can hear Mal laugh at something Kaylee says. Jayne passes him a bottle. He doesn’t even have to ask what it is, the odor from Jayne is strong enough for him to tell. Georgia always has the best stuff, which, Casey supposes, is why Jayne is always excited when they end up planetside here.

He nods a thanks and sits it down beside him. Casey doesn’t feel like drinking and really isn’t up for the worried looks that good doctor sends his way when he does.

“It’s quite the… uh… celebration,” a voice behind him says. The owner sits carefully down beside him. His nose wrinkles when dirt gets on his nice clean pants.

Casey doesn’t want to know when RJ lost so much that even sitting in the dirt has become repulsive. “A party and a half,” he responds blankly.

River sends him a look from across the fire as if she can read his mind. Oh yeah, he thinks, she can. But he doesn’t need mind reading skills to know what she’s thinking.

Casey grabs the bottle from beside him, yanks off the lid and takes a swig.
